Language Schools

Interested in learning German? You can do so at the BSV! The German Saturday School Boston offers courses for children of all ages, whereas the Adult German School teaches German as a foreign language to adults.

Adult German Language School

The primary purpose of the Adult German School is to teach the German language and to introduce the cultures of German speaking countries to adults. The School is part of the Boylston Schul-Verein (BSV), the largest German-American club in the greater Boston area.  Enjoy the relaxed setting and casual atmosphere of the club as you learn German.

The Adult German Classes are intended to meet the needs of adults 18 years and older, who want to learn German or improve their proficiency in the language. The school strives to accommodate every student in one of the six levels of instruction--Beginner I, II, III & IV, Intermediate, or Advanced. New students are placed into an entry point nearest to their previous knowledge. Students will learn to understand spoken German, will build vocabulary, will learn to read German, and to write grammatically correct German.

About the German Saturday School Boston

We’ve been around a long time! Founded in 1874 by the Boylston Schul-Verein, ours is the oldest language school for children in Massachusetts. We pride ourselves on our experienced, dedicated faculty and our all-volunteer School Committee, as well as our core of motivated parents, who volunteer their time to make the school a special place. Our school is an active member in the Association of American Teachers of German (AATG), the German Language School Conference (GLSC) and the Massachusetts Foreign Language Association (MaFLA). We enjoy the support of the German government, the German Consulate, the German International School Boston, the Goethe Institute in Boston, as well as Boston University. Our school is located at William Diamond Middle School (DMS), 99 Hancock Street, Lexington, MA.
